The service will be starting from 2nd January, 2025 with non-stop service on ultra-long-haul from Delhi to New York. Currently the A350-900 has six aircraft. It expands its operations on flights requiring more than 16 hours of travel; that could have been flown between continents including North America. Until recently, the airline introduced A350 into medium-haul on a destination such as London.
Air India will launch A350 service on the Delhi-New York route, subject to customer acceptance of the improved experience on the Delhi-London route, Air India's CEO Campbell Wilson said. Air India will also introduce A350 services on the Delhi-Newark, New Jersey route, operating five times a week, starting from early January.
Air India is introducing A350 services while it has cancelled approximately 60 US-bound flights between November 15 and December 31. This move is based on the reasons of maintenance and supply chain issues impacting the availability of other widebodies. Air India has also scheduled full interior overhauls of its currently operational aircraft to begin next year, 2025, and continue to focus on customer experience upgrades even more. -

The world's largest aircraft, the Airbus Beluga XL, clocked its first landing at Kolkata's Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) Airport here last Saturday. The Beluga XL measures 207 ft in length and has a wingspan of nearly 198 ft. This aircraft is a modernized version of the Beluga ST, which weighs itself more than 50 tons. Mostly used for transportation of oversized cargo and aircraft parts, this aircraft is capable of carrying unusual load.
The aircraft flew in from the Airbus factory location in Toulouse, France on Tuesday night. It had important cargo on it and was heading to Tianjin in China. Kolkata was an intermediate station mainly for crew lay over and fuelling and because of the flight duty time limitations FDTL since it was the only airfield in Eastern India that could have been used by that large aircraft.
A water salute welcomed the plane, which was carrying three pilots and one engineer, upon its touchdown. Operated by four pilots and an engineer, the Beluga XL was first launched in 2018, certified in 2019, and unquestionably remains one of the features of the logistical operations of Airbus. The fuel replenished as scheduled at the J1 bay and provisionally, the aircraft departed for the planned flight at 17:50 on Wednesday 9th October, 2024 evening. -
SpiceJet plans to expand its fleet by adding 10 more planes by the end of November. Seven of these will be leased, while three grounded planes will be reintroduced into service. The airline's Rs 3,000 crore capital raise, which attracted major institutional investors like Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley, will support these acquisitions and investments in technology and market expansion. Chairman Ajay Singh highlighted that this fleet expansion is key to meeting rising demand and enhancing operational capabilities.
