Air India, under the Tata Group, is undertaking major transformations to tap into significant growth opportunities. The airline plans to expand premium economy and business class seats, optimize flight schedules, and streamline its network to enhance passenger experience and improve capacity utilization. This strategy aims to boost connectivity and revenues across domestic and international routes.
Since Tata Group's acquisition in January 2022, Air India's revenue has surged from under $1 billion in FY20 to nearly $10 billion. Operating 1,168 daily flights, including 313 international services, the airline is increasing the size of premium cabins on wide-body aircraft, nearly doubling premium seats in some configurations. Plans include retrofitting all aircraft, adding first-class seating in select planes, and ensuring all narrow-body aircraft offer three-class service—economy, premium economy, and business.

WTTC promotes reducing carbon emissions in road transport and replacing natural flora to promote sustainable tourism. Simpson acknowledged the efforts of Prime Minister Modi towards renewable energy and clean air, hoping that India would lead the world in sustainable economic growth. WTTC continues to work with the Indian government on responsible tourism practices.
